or...how I spent Friday night

In my dating past, I have had certain rules/standards which I follow. They are about the specific mate I am looking for. Here are the brief rules: 1)must be employed and not live at home, 2) no cops or firefighters, 3) no back hair, 4) no drugs, 5) no one night stands. So, myself, A1, T, and M met up at Mixtec in Adams Morgan last night for some yummy Mexican food and margaritas. It was a lot of fun! M and T decided that they wanted to go home at 10 pm, so A1 and I headed to the Reef. We got some drinks and settled down for an evening at the bar. There was a gentleman sitting next to us who was talking to us for a while. He bought us some drinks and then suggested that we leave Reef and go someplace else. I was a little tipsy (OK, maybe it was more than tipsy) and A1 and I decided it would be a good idea to head out and go someplace else. So we went someplace else and we still hung out with this guy. Well, I find out at the second bar, this guy is a cop and totally not my type. He's originally from Staten Island, in his mid thirties, and carries a few extra pounds. Ugh. I have had bad experiences with cops, so it was a steadfast rule about no cops. Being that I am 1) drunk and 2) lonely, I still continue to talk to him. 1:30 am rolls around and A1 was tired, so the cop told us he would drive us back to my place. He drives a new Nissan Z, which I honestly cannot complain about. So, he drives A1 back to her car and he asks me if he can walk me to my place. I agree, and worse, invite him up to my place. I am not thinking coherently at this point. So we start making out and he tries to put the moves on me. Luckily, I was sane enough to say no multiple times, but he ended up staying the night. He asked if he could stay, and for some reason I didn't say no. He actually behaved, which made the evening less of an afterschool special.

i was supposed to get up early and go to the DMV to resolve the DC license debacle, but I was too hung over to get out of bed. I had a whole list of things to do today, but I didn't get anything accomplished. Imagine my surprise this morning when I woke up fully clothed with a stranger in my bed! I was so confused. I haven't done something this stupid in a long time. He left around 10 and asked for my number. I honestly hope he doesn't call.

There were so many cute boys at the bar, and I end up bringing home this guy. Bizzare.

It is my experience that no amount of rules will actually help you determine the next person you will actually become involved with.
